Sliding genioplasty by osteotomy or bone sliding
The procedure consists in breaking the lower part of the mandibular bone (osteotomy) without detaching it from the muscular insertions. This bone fragment is thereafter moved forward and re-attached with plates and metal screws. This procedure is much heavier.
The risks of asymmetry, of shifting on the lower edge of the jaw and of bleeding are more important. The scar is placed in the mouth and the procedure lasts about 1h30. You will be hospitalized one night. The follow-up is the same than with an implant.
